Future Listening! is the debut solo album from Japanese electronic musician
Towa Tei.
It was Teis first release after his departure from dance music act
Deee-Lite.
The album incorporates an array of musical styles, including electronic,
bossa nova, house, jazz and pop. Produced by Tei, Future Listening!
includes collaborations with artists such as Joi Cardwell, Bebel Gilberto,
MC Kinky, Hiroshi Takano, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Haruomi Hosono, Toshihiko Mori,
Satoshi Tomiie, Yuichi Oki of Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra and Pizzicato
Five vocalist Maki Nomiya.
Both “Luv Connection” (featuring Cardwell on vocals) and “Technova”
(remixed by Josh Wink) were top-thirty hits on the U.S. Hot Dance Club Play
chart in 1995.
The Electric Sitar part on “Son of Bambi” is an interpolation of Richie
Havens song “Something Else Again”, replayed by Hiroshi Takano.

The second incarnation of Chick Coreas influential fusion group released
only a single record, the magnificent Hymn of the Seventh Galaxy. Featuring
a more rock-oriented approach than the Flora Purim-Joe Farrell band that
was responsible for both Return to Forever and Light as a Feather, Corea
and old standby Stanley Clarke join forces here with propulsive drummer
Lenny White and electric guitarist Bill Connors. Although Connors lacks the
sophistication of Al Di Meola, the young guitarist who replaced him, he
possesses a deliciously raw sound that keeps Coreas heady compositions
firmly grounded. White introduces a funk aspect to the music, replacing
Airtos Latin grooves from the first two records. Clarke is as good,
wrenching some truly frightening sounds out of his electric basses. This
increased emphasis on electric instrumentation, also displayed in Coreas
heavy use of synthesizers, is another thing that separates this record from
the previous Return to Forever releases. And as good as the band
performances are, it is the quality of the compositions that marks Hymn of
the Seventh Galaxy as an indispensable disc of 70s fusion. “Captain Senor
Mouse,” one of Coreas finest fusion compositions, receives an excellent
treatment here. Likewise, the two-part “Space Circus” is a fantastic mix of
haunting and grooving elements, with some simply incredible solos thrown
into the mix. With Hymn of the Seventh Galaxy, Corea continues his streak
of simply timeless fusion albums. The best of the electric RTF albums.

Motion City Soundtrack is an American rock band from Minneapolis,
Minnesota, formed in 1997. The band consists of founding members
Justin Pierre (lead vocals and guitar) and Joshua Cain (lead
guitar and backing vocals), along with keyboardist and moog
synthesist Jesse Johnson, bassist and backing vocalist Matthew
Taylor, and drummer, percussionist and backing vocalist Tony
Thaxton. Motion City Soundtrack has released five studio albums
and sold almost 600,000 records throughout their career,
including over half a million in the United States alone.

Even if It Kills Me is the third studio album by American pop
punk band Motion City Soundtrack, released on September 18, 2007.
The album was a follow up to their 2005 album, Commit This to
Memory and was co-produced by Adam Schlesinger of Fountains of
Wayne and Eli Janney of Girls Against Boys, with part of the
record also being produced by Ric Ocasek of The Cars. It peaked
at number one on the Independent Albums charts and at number 16
on the Billboard 200 chart, selling around 33,000 albums in its
first week.
