The third studio album by Rush, Caress Of Steel was released in 1975 and featured the singles "The Necromancer: Return of the Prince" and "Lakeside Park". The album was certified Gold in the US and Canada by the RIAA and CRIA.

Although the band initially had high hopes for Caress of Steel, it was considered a disappointment by the record company. The album eventually became known as one of Rush's most obscure and overlooked recordings. Die hard fans feel the record is underrated.

Caress of Steel featured long pieces broken up into various sections and long solo passages. It is often considered notable for the inclusion of the band's first two epic pieces, "The Necromancer" and "The Fountain of Lamneth."

"I Think I'm Going Bald" was written for Kim Mitchell, who at the time was the frontman of the band Max Webster and a close friend of the band. Track three, "Lakeside Park," was a reference to a park in St. Catharines, Ontario where Neil grew up and worked during the summer as a teenager.

The band's label didn't want Rush to do another "concept" album. The band ignored this advice and went on to record their first major commercial success and a signature record, which enabled them to chart their own course moving forward. Writing the material took about six months, and the album, recorded at Toronto Sound with Terry Brown, required about a month in the studio to finish.
"We don't want to change what people think about rock & roll, we just want to show them what we think about it." -- Alex Lifeson, 1976

Influenced by the writings of Ayn Rand, the album features the side-long title suite. Based in the future, a galaxy-wide war results in the union of all planets under the rule of the Red Star of the Solar Federation. By 2112, the world is controlled by the "Priests of the Temples of Syrinx," who determine the content of all reading matter, songs, pictures --- every facet of life.
"We've got a big future ahead of us." -- Geddy Lee, 1976

Most fans consider 2112 the band's definitive album. Certified triple-platinum, 2112 is #2 onRolling Stone's 'Your Favorite Prog Rock Albums of All Time'. This newly-remastered edition was remastered at Abbey Road from original analogue masters

Rush – Moving Pictures (1981/2015) [Rock, 7Digital, FLAC 192kHz/24bit]

Artist: Rush
Title: Moving Pictures
Genre: Rock
Release Date: 1981/2015
Label: Mercury Records
Duration: 40:04
Quality: FLAC 192kHz/24bit
Source: 7Digital

Moving Pictures is the intersection between Rush's '70s art-rock style and their sequencer-laced '80s efforts. An incredible stylistic leap for the band, the songs here incorporate reggae, percolating synth and even a new wave-tinged early '80s pop sensibility. 'Tom Sawyer,' the ultimate alienated-teen saga, is the album's best known song. 'Red Barchetta' picks up where 2112 left off with futuristic, sci fi-oriented lyrics. The instrumental 'YYZ' is as far into straight-up progressive rock as the band had ever ventured. Things get socio-political on the ominous 'Witch Hunt,' and a Jamaican flavor enlivens 'Vital Signs.' The increased reliance on synthesizers and sequencers would later become irksome to old school Rush fans, but on 'Moving Pictures', electronics are tastefully applied to further the group's musical vision, making for what just might be their finest batch of songs.
